* Droughts in major wheat-producing countries
* Low grain reserves
* High Oil Prices
* A doubling of per-capita meat consumption in some developing countries

Rising Oil Prices
Falling gas prices makes the people feel happier when having to fill up their tanks, but increasing food costs are still causing consumers to become upset at the grocery store and not spend as much. Overall, gas prices are rising slightly, the food market is rising faster than the oil. Failed Crops/Droughts Because of droughts, that means less food being produced and the food prices are higher because there isn't as much supply. There is a demand for these commodities to be produced when the stocks were very low and depleted due to bad harvests or weather-related events. The United States of America is the world’s largest food producer and exporter. Recently the US has been experiencing low rainfall and excessive heat in the Mid-west. This is the location which feeds America and the world. Wheat, corn, soya beans have shriveled on farms on account of drought. The same is true of parts of Canada, Spain and some states of Nigeria. | ![]() |

The American diet consists of foods that are loaded with flavor and calories for immediate gratification, only to feel hungry again an hour or two later. This is the reason why more than a quarter of our population is obese. More than that percentage have heart complications. |
