Nigeria is located in Western Africa, bordering the Gulf of Guinea, between Benin and Cameroon.

The Issue:

People in Nigeria have next to nothing. They have little or no money. There are people who produce and sell the food that is produced in Nigeria. These people are wanting to sell the food to someone/countries that will pay for it. Since Nigerians have little or no money, the food that is produced will not be left for them and will be sold to someone that can pay for it. This is done for the benefit of the exporters.
The government of China is one of those countries that will pay for the food –worldwide – because they have to feed I.3 billion people. Nigeria’s cassava will be one of the targets. The poor people of Nigeria cannot compete. If nothing is done to take care of this, then a few cassava exporters will and they will do it for their own benefit. If this happens it will send hundreds of thousands to their graves because of the devastating famine that will take hold
.

In the beginning Nigeria was a major agricultural country. After the 1970's oil was discovered off it's coast and soon it became the 8th largest oil exporter in the world. Because of this, Nigeria's farms and agricultural land was neglected. Now, 90% of those farms are insufficient to feed very many people let alone their families.

The Nigerian government is supposed to have the capacity to hold 300,000 metric tons of grain in reserve. Hopefully they will start to use the silos that have been made to store their grains. The Nigerians have the capability to feed themselves. They just now need to be taught how to cultivate the land and use it properly.
